Overall, this is my favorite Wilson ball by far and is one that I’d absolutely add to my bag. It feels awesome off the tee, it stops pretty well on the greens, and it’s cheaper than its competitors. Both balls are 2-piece construction with the emphasis on keeping the spin rate low for straighter shots off the tee. Distance Oftentimes it’s hard to know what an OEM is trying to emphasize with a given product. That’s not the case with the DUO Soft+: the words “softest and longest” are everywhere. Wilson claims that their Velociticor technology makes the DUO Soft+ longer. Specifically, their testing with a 90 MPH driver swing showed “initial velocity of the ball increased by two miles per hour.”

In addition to his editorial responsibilities, he was instrumental in developing MyGolfSpy's data-driven testing methodologies and continues to sift through our data to find the insights that can help improve your game. Another element of long distance is low spin, and the DUO Soft+ delivers there. The low spin that the DUO Soft+ produces off the driver was helpful in creating a strong, straight ball flight with plenty of roll out. With my irons, the DUO Soft+ spun several hundred RPM less than a tour ball, which added a little distance and some roll out. As a low spin player, that’s not ideal for me, but higher spin players may welcome the stronger ball flight. Tony believes that golfers deserve to know what's real and what's not, and that means MyGolfSpy's equipment coverage must extend beyond the so-called facts as dictated by the same companies that created them. I did the same test from 30 yards out. I chipped the ball 15-20 yards and noticed that it ran out a bit more than the other two balls. It was maybe 5-8 yards more, which could have been just a coincidence, but it was pretty common with the testing I’ve done. What’s The Best Wilson Golf Ball For You? Golf balls in the soft feel category are not aimed at producing maximum spin. Excessive spin can add sidespin and curve your ball into deep trouble.DUO Soft+ was engineered to give players the ideal blend of longer distances and exceptional feel. In our testing of DUO Soft+, the Wilson LABS team found that when using a driver, the initial velocity of the ball increased by two miles per hour. With our Velociticor™ technology, we are able to make our DUO lineup even longer while maintaining the soft feel the brand is known for.” One is clearly 'better' than the other and that is reflected by the difference in price and the immense popularity of one of those balls. Where things can get confusing is that for many golfers the better ball is not the expensive one that is played by so many players on the PGA Tour, it's the cheap 2-piece ball. By adding more Comores to their Trionomer cover, Callaway edges the Duo in the durability stakes. Price In total, we flagged just under 17 percent of the sample as bad. It’s also true that the Wilson DUO Soft+ isn’t a particularly consistent golf ball. True Price

Callaway is one of the premium brands in golf while Wilson has been in the manufacturing of sporting goods for nearly a century. Their first golf club, an R-90 sand wedge, was inspired by Gene Sarazen’s victory in the 1932 British Open. Not only that, but because it spins much less it will also allow average golfers to find more fairways as it won't deviate as much with side spin from hooks or slices. So basically, it’s straighter and longer, but only if you aren’t a highly accomplished player. The use of ionomer covers enables the manufacturers to keep the cost down without losing too much on performance. Launch i live in ct & play thru the entire winter. im 66 yrs old & in that 90-100 mph category. for years now i’ve been huge fan & committed to the maxfli softfli balls with their 35 compression. they are long, like butter off driver, fairway woods, irons, putter and around the greens. bought some wilson duo softs online clearance that had 29 compression & prior to these new softs & saw little no difference vs maxfli’s. While the original Duo had a 40 compression, the latest takes it down to 29 and adds a new softer ionomer cover. The Duo Soft also has a more shallow dimple pattern. That combination, Wilson says, results in longer, straighter shots. Our Testing Process: Our goal is to help you find the right product. We spend a lot of time testing products so you don’t have to. Wilson Duo will add distance for golfers with a low swing speed while the Callaway Supersoft can be used at a slightly higher swing speed. Some people also compare them with a simulator. It’ll be way more helpful because you’ll see the numbers, but it doesn’t always translate to the course. I wanted to play a few holes which each ball to see if there really was a noticeable difference. Here are the results. Hole #1 (par 3) These are my thoughts and opinions on the Duo Soft Golf balls and how they compare to other options in the same price range. The difference in feel between the DUO Soft and the DUO Soft Spin is negligible. If you’re really looking for it, the DUO Soft Spin is a touch firmer, but I defy anyone to tell the difference during a round. Looks

Company number: 1394141; Registered office: Media House, Peterborough Business Park, Lynch Wood, Peterborough PE2 6EA and H Bauer Publishing, I also was reminded of why I gravitated toward other balls, particularly the three piece Volvik Vivid. In mid summer, when my game has peaked after a winter’s layoff, I am swinging faster, and start looking for a three piece ball that can offer a little more touch and spin from a hundred yards in. My best 9 holes were 4 over and this was the ball I was using. Yeah, it doesn’t bite the greens that well, but playing your second shot from the fairway makes the game so much easier. With my wood, I hit the ball a little fat but it still went a decent distance and landed in the first cut of rough. Since I didn’t get all of it, it wasn’t quite as far as the other two balls. While not as thin as the typical urethane offering, covers on the DUO Soft+ are a bit thinner than we’d expect from the ionomer category. While it’s not going to give you a massive amount of greenside spin, the thinner cover design should help a little. Wilson DUO Soft+ Consistency Wilson announced recently the introduction of two brand new golf balls: the Duo Soft+ and the Duo Optics. The new arrivals are meant to replace the company’s famous DX2 Soft Ball and they feature Wilson’s proprietary Velocitor technology, which means these two are basically the longest and softest low-compression (35) 2-piece golf balls in the world. According to Wilson, the new Duo Soft + with Velocitor technology is crafted using advanced engineering and cutting edge materials to, let us quote, “extract and amplify every ounce of power from a player’s swing, giving golfers greater distance with every shot.” I played a single ball for an entire round and found the color to be very durable. There was no scuffing, loss of color, or dulling of the finish. Short Game True Price is how we quantify the quality of a golf ball. It's a projection of what you'd have to spend to ensure you get 12 good balls. Bauer Media Group consists of : Bauer Consumer Media Ltd, Company number 01176085; Bauer Radio Limited,
