The ash pan was easy to empty, but we recommend investing in a fire pit brush or ash poker to help the pellet (or wood) ash fall into the pan. While the BioLite FirePit+ can be used without the fan, it is not recommended. The UKIAH fire pits have a gas hose that is about 10 feet long, so it could be difficult hide it away. Although it’s not the cheapest fire pit, we don’t mind paying a few extra dollars because of its durable steel construction and the value we got from it. It offered just as much if not more value than many other fire pits in its category. But, we wish it came with handles to make it easier to carry. While this fire pit isn’t the cheapest option out there, it gives off an impressive amount of heat, plus it's easy to assemble and use. Features To Look for When Buying Portable Fire Pits

After using this fire pit consistently for four months, we're pleased that it is still maintaining its "smokeless" performance. Plus, we found cleaning and storing this fire pit to be an easy process, when needed.

Gas and wood are good fuels, but wood gives off more heat and lasts longer. You can use fallen wood from the forest or bring wood if you’re camping. However, gas burns cleaner and doesn’t require as much cleanup. It depends on the purposes of your fire pit. Are round or square fire pits better? Although this fire pit is 35 pounds, it’s relatively easy to move because of the separate ashtray and plate. We do still wish it had handles on the main drum, but we recognize that this design may not function the same with handles and isn’t marketed as a super portable option. All in all, we think that if you’re less attached to a brand name and just want a smokeless fire pit that performs well, this model is a great option.
