About this deal

Like most Becca products, you can create an angelic and elegant look and a highlight that won’t blind anyone. I’ve also decided I hate the way that matte foundations look on me – they make my face look so flat and dull, even with bronzer/blush/etc. I have hyperpigmentation issues and though it doesn’t hide anything, it makes my skin look so well cared for that those issues don’t seem so pressing. You will really only need a small amount (like the amount pictured above) to cover your entire face.

Next is the Backlight Priming Filter which is a pearly liquid primer designed to create a base for makeup. I still do need concealer or correctors for dark spots or red areas, but that’s the case with most foundations I use anyways.

Today’s post is a review of the Becca Backlight Priming Filter, which came into my collection in June.

The Physician’s Formula primer side was definitely more shimmery under sunlight, but in indoor lighting, they are indistinguishable. Another study even suggested that licorice is more effective than the gold standard skin-lightening agent hydroquinone. If I’m going to be spending money on something, I want it to be vastly different from what I already own, ya know what I mean? You can certainly pull off the completely no makeup look, but I also love how your skin looks with just the primer. With the combo of some of my tried and true items for oily skin, my look on this day lasted about 10 hours before it started to fade, even with a lot of sweating and blotting. I have used this product after putting on my moisturizer, and have gotten a ton of compliments on my skin. Don’t let this scare you, because it doesn’t look quite so intense once you have applied it all over the face.

I’m always in two minds about primers but this one does seem to have a bit more about it than many when it comes to perfecting your ‘canvas’. I know that primer fans rave about them – particularly Hourglass – but I think they’re for the complexion perfectionists and not for day to day wear on someone like me who doesn’t appreciate their finer qualities. Water\Aqua\Eau, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Limonene, Coumarin, Linalool, Benzyl Benzoate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citral, Disodium Edta, Bht, Phenoxyethanol, Mica, Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Iron Oxides (Ci 77491) . I’ve been adding a pump of the Becca Backlight Priming Filter* to my makeup-free face before makeup application.

When the weather was warmer and we had a few heat waves I found this to be too moisturizing for my skin and it left my face looking a bit too dewy. It’s safe and gentle, but even more importantly, it’s not a feared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason paraben. Although I, personally, have normal, combination skin, I have read that this product has worked for people with oily skin as well. So this one definitely delivered on the “lit from within” and “radiance booster” claims, and I was very pleased about that.

As a result, the skin features a gorgeous finish and the makeup lasts throughout the day and into the night.I hope that you enjoyed my review, and appreciate those of you who took time out of your day to read my post. It’s often used together with ethylhexylglycerin as it nicely improves the preservative activity of phenoxyethanol. It’s is not intensely hydrating, but I do feel it is more hydrating than many other primers I’ve used.
