About this deal

We've lost so many people from around the band, in the end we said: Yeah, let's do this": The original line-up of The Almighty gear up to play their first shows in more than 30 years". loudersound.com. 13 November 2023 . Retrieved 22 November 2023. Also, with prescient timing, original guitarist Tantrum left the band, to be replaced by former Alice Cooper guitarist Pete Friesen, who was also enamoured of drop D tunings. It was a match made in heaven (with one eye on Seattle). a b c d "Fan Club Newsletter Issue 8". The Almighty. Archived from the original on 18 October 2007. Most Almighty fans will already have this is their collections and it’s as good as you remember, maybe even better. The production, courtesy of Mark Dodson (Judas Priest, Suicidal Tendencies) is brilliant – crystal clear and full-bodied, while the band are playing better than they ever had, energised by their new sound and guitarist. Everything seemed to fall into place at the right time. a b c d "Fan Club Newsletter Issue 4". The Almighty. Archived from the original on 18 October 2007.

It’s hard to figure out why Scottish band THE ALMIGHTY didn’t achieve bigger international success, perhaps they were just between genre’s doing their own thing. They had a great cult following because they never really followed the trends and flavor of the week, but it also prevented them from mainstream success. And so the band decamped to the studio and set about recording their third full-length album, the career-high ‘Powertrippin’, now the subject of a deluxe 2-disc reissue by those fine people at Cherry Red, and what a joy it is to reacquaint yourself with this great album. at Ridge Farm Studios, Capel, Surrey, England; Demoed 1992 at Sawmills Studios, Golant, Cornwall, England [1]Recording of the Almighty's second studio album, Soul Destruction, began in December 1990 [8] with Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor as producer. [2] The album was released in March 1991 along with the lead single "Free'n'Easy". [5] In February and March the band toured the UK supporting Motörhead and Megadeth. [1] In June 1991 they embarked on a headline UK tour. [10] The concert at the Town and Country club in London was filmed and released later that year on VHS as Soul Destruction – Live. [11] Later in the year they supported Alice Cooper on a European tour. [12] Speaking of disc 2, it’s a lovely addition. the B-sides of the singles are present and padded with demos of Wild and Wonderful, Soul Destruction, the aforementioned Out Of Season and Free n Easy.

This album is closer to an Alternative/Grunge sound to and the furthest away from their 1991 album “Soul Destruction”. Musically guitarist Pete Friesen crushes it again, not quite as aggressive as “Crank” or “Powertrippin” but he’s expanded his horizons as well. Watts, Chris (September 1989). "Is it all about sex?". However, the expanded addition features an excellent fully illustrated booklet, complete with detailed liner notes from Malcolm Dome, based on interviews with the band. Bassist Floyd announces departure from The Almighty". Brave Words. 13 November 2008 . Retrieved 19 March 2015. If it wasn’t good enough getting a new release of ‘Powertrippin’’, then Disc Two is a fantastic gift, albeit a bit puzzling.Athwal, Steve (December 1994). "One more for the road". Raw. pp.13–15. Archived from the original on 18 October 2007 . Retrieved 24 March 2015. THE ALBMIGHTY were on a terror in the early 90’s with three albums in just over three years, 1993’s “Powertrippin”, “Crank” in 1994 and finally “Just Add Life” in 1996. The last of the trilogy was perhaps the most diverse album with feel closer to THE CLASH and a return to some earlier punk influences. This album represents The Almighty at their best. Always Wild and Wonderful, Free ‘N’ Easy and they will never be Out Of Season.
